50 years after independence, Singapore has exceeded beyond expectations, with a high standard of living and many opportunities for her people. Looking to the future, Singapore aims to remain a leading city of the world by building a Smart Nation, leveraging technology for better living, stronger communities in our society and more opportunities for all.
I created this home-made video, just in time for Singapore's 42nd birthday.
Hey all, welcome to another Jtizzy vlog. In this vlog we check out the modern city of Singapore. We stayed in Singapore for a few days and tried to do as much as possible. The city is huge, however, I'd say you need a decent week to see everything. Mind this is the same with most places. During our stay we visited the world famous shopping street 'Orcahrd Road' where you can find plenty of shopping malls. After we visited the beautiful Garden's by the Bay and China Town. Enjoy. When it started life as an independent, separate country in 1965, Singapore’s prospects did not look good. Tiny and underdeveloped, it had no natural resources and a population of relatively recent immigrants with little shared history. The country’s first prime minister, the late Lee Kuan Yew is credited with transforming it. He called one volume of his memoirs, “From Third World to First”. Why did Singapore become an economic success? First, its strategic location and natural harbour helped. It is at the mouth of the Malacca Strait, through which perhaps 40% of world maritime trade passes. It was an important trading post in the 14th century, and again from the 19th, when British diplomat Sir Stamford Raffles founded the modern city. Now it is at the heart of one of the world’s most...

Singapore is one of the great cities of the world, with its blend of Asian and European cultures. Graceful colonial buildings co-exist alongside centuries-old street markets and modern high-rises. Though the government can be strict with residents and visitors who misbehave, travelers who follow the rules can’t help but be fascinated by this multi-cultural city. Singapore has been described as a playground for the rich, and it's true that the small city-state does have a certain sheen of wealth. But Singapore offers more than just high-end shopping malls, luxury hotels, and fine dining (though it's worth indulging in those a bit if you can). There is also a vibrant history and diverse ethnic quarters to discover, along with the many family-friendly attractions and lovely public spaces that...
This is why I prefer walking when I am traveling--I found so much! There were so many amazing historic buildings I couldn't believe it. I'm not sure why I hadn't seen any videos done on these. I was only in Singapore for one full day in January 2017, but I did a lot. This is from the day, and there is one more video from that night. Thanks for watching! Like, Comment, & Subscribe! a_collective (http://www.acollective.com.sg/) completed the design and development of Sunset Terrace House, a highly modern residence organized in an L-shaped plan in Singapore. Stylish and diverse, the bungalow-inspired crib exudes harmony and a large degree of openness. A modern blend of glass, wood and concrete results in an eye-catching street facade. All the rooms have views to a private garden at the rear corner of the site. The original architecture approach for the Sunset Terrace House was explained as follows: "The combined living and dining room has the spatial experience of an open pavilion, with the elements of water on one side and greenery on the other, topped with a 3.6 meter high ceiling clad in solid Burmese teak timber. A floating feature staircase ties the two storeys to...

https://www.expedia.com/Singapore.d180027.Destination-Travel-Guides Small and heavily populated, Singapore is an easy place to explore; nothing in the city is more than an hour from the business district. Thanks to modern construction and outstanding architecture, Singapore is rapidly becoming a powerhouse trade city, but it maintains ties to its Asian roots through traditional temples and many cultural hotspots, like Little India and Kampong Glam. Your Singapore tour must include the Botanical Gardens and Orchid Gardens, both beautiful and notable places to visit. If you’re a fan of exotic animals, stop by the Singapore Zoo and check in with its 300-plus species that take up residence there. You can also take a “bumboat” from Changi Beach to Pulau Ubin, set away from the bustling city,...
In this frank dialogue with a student from al-Azhar, who argued that the modern notions of and against homosexuality are a post-Victorian construct, Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi has an interesting back and forth regarding same-sex issues in light of Muslim history and Arab poetry. The discussion then veers into the modern reality of whether Muslims who live in Western lands should give political support to same-sex unions or not. Recorded on 15th May 2015 Lesbian | Gay | Bisexual | Transgender | Progressive Islam | Voting | same-sex unions | Muslims | Modern Islam | Christian | Judaism | Homosexuality | Morality | Marriage
